The quality of this journal, from the large format, heavy laid paper, letterpress printing and vivid chromolithographs is impressive. Robinson was the chief promoter of a more natural and 'wild' gardening style, in direct opposition to the garish bedding plantings of the Victorian designers. This journal, along with his popular books, was a chief vehicle for getting his opinion out.
